Manuscript Evaluation
A manuscript evaluation gives you a clear, big-picture view of your book without the full depth of a developmental edit. It’s a more affordable way to find out what’s working, what isn’t yet, and where to focus your revision. I’ll look at structure, story arc, characters, pacing, point of view, themes, voice, tone, and setting.
Who it’s for: Writers with a complete or nearly complete draft who want high-level direction before revising, or who’d like a sense of where the book stands before investing in a full developmental edit.
What it includes:
Editorial letter (5–10 pages, depending on the manuscript length) that covers all the craft elements outlined above
One email follow-up for clarifying questions
What is not included: margin comments, follow-up call, line editing, copyediting, or proofreading
Price: 3 cents per word (e.g., 50,000 words = $1,500). A 50% deposit holds your place on my calendar, with the balance due upon receipt of feedback.
Turnaround time: 3-4 weeks from your scheduled start date
